Title: Sexytimes Part Thirty-Three - Jo/Zoe
Fandom: Eureka
Pairing: Jo Lupo/Zoe Carter
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: None
Length: 518 words
Even after Zoe went to college, she and Jo still managed to talk a lot. They Skyped, sometimes a phone call, and as often as possible Jo went out to visit. Zoe couldn't get back to Eureka any more often than Jo got out to visit her, but what they got was enough. They were friends, good friends, and even with Zoe off at medical school they acted like it. Every time they saw one another it was like nothing had changed, they could still hang out, talk about school and about boys and about anything and everything.
Jo made it out at just about midterm time in Zoe's fourth year, and Zoe made time for her anyway. It had been ages since they got a chance to hang out, so Zoe took an entire night off from studying and took Jo out on the town. They had dinner at some little place just off campus that was nowhere as good as Cafe Diem, saw whatever cheesy romance movie was playing and went for a couple drinks afterward. If Zoe hadn't known better, she would have called it a date. Except it wasn't a date at all. Zoe hadn't planned a date, it was a girls' night out, and so what if at the end of it they went back to Zoe's dorm room? That didn't make it a date.
Even if they also ended up making out on Zoe's bed, it wasn't a date. Sometimes making out was just making out. And sometimes, taking off clothes while making out was just that. And so what if taking their clothes off led to something a little more, that didn't make their night out a date. If Zoe had learned one important life lesson while at college, it was that sex absolutely did not have to equal dating, and sometimes it was better if it didn't. Sometimes, friends could just have friend-sex and it didn't have to mean anything other than that. Zoe and Jo could totally just have friend-sex. They were friends, and were apparently about to have sex, if the last piece of clothing being dropped off the side of the bed was anything to judge from.
Except Zoe's roommate picked that as the perfect moment to come in, and startle Zoe right out of the mood she and Jo were creating, the moment they were trying to enjoy. The girl was nice about it, fairly unfazed even as Zoe pulled a blanket up to cover herself and Jo mostly just hid behind her. The apology for interrupting came with an admonishment about leaving some sort of signal outside the door if Zoe wanted to have a little private time with her guest, then she was picking up a book and a sweater and was out the door again with an announcement she'd be back in an hour.
"I should go," Jo said after the door closed, getting up and getting dressed, and Zoe didn't have it in her to object.
"Okay. Are we still on for lunch after my exam tomorrow?"
"Yeah. I'll see you then."
