Title: Sexytimes Part Thirty-Nine - Rachel/Aiden
Fandom: Alphas/Stargate: Atlantis
Pairing: Rachel Pirzad/Aiden Ford
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: None
Length: 550 words

Rachel had known Aiden Ford since she was a child. He was the boy down the street who lived with his grandparents, whose cousins were always coming to visit, who went to her school and who her parents didn't want her to hang around with too much. Probably just because he was a boy, and good girls didn't play with boys. But Aiden was nice, sweet, gentle. He knew when to be still and quiet, when Rachel's abilities made it hard for her to be with people. He never told her she was weird or a freak, just that it was cool she had a super power, even if it was pretty lame. Aiden was easy to be friends with, and so even if her parents didn't want her to be, Rachel was his friend.

She stayed that way all the way through school, until he joined the Marines and she went to the CIA. Then they didn't see one another for years. They kept in touch, but didn't see each other, and without Aiden there to stand between her and social situations, Rachel withdrew deeper and deeper into herself, became the timid woman she was when she first joined Doctor Rosen's team, when she started to get the help she knew deep down that she needed to be a normal person.

Rachel felt like she was starting to get to a good place when Aiden walked into her family's shop. She was still socially awkward, uncomfortable with people and felt like she couldn't sit down and eat with people, couldn't dull all her senses at once. She couldn't stand all the dirt and germs she could see all the time, but she felt like she was in a better place. And then he was there, standing at the counter, all grown up with his hair cut short and his clothes looking brand new, just back in town for a week, he said, shipping off to Antarctica, he said. And for a moment Rachel felt like there was nothing wrong with her at all.

He invited her to dinner, and she went despite her parents' objections. He asked at the end of the night if he could kiss her, and feeling strong, Rachel said yes. It wasn't completely overwhelming, so she went with it. She let him keep kissing her, tried to indicate that she was open to going a lot further than that. But the second things shifted in that direction, it was suddenly so incredibly overwhelming that she panicked, pushed him away so violently that Aiden actually stumbled backward.

"I'm sorry," Rachel was apologising immediately, drawing into herself. "I'm so sorry."

And perfect as always, Aiden was there, close, hands hovering by her arms but not touching her, voice quiet when he answered. "It's okay. Relax. Try to even out."

"I'm so sorry," she said again, covered her ears and tried to breathe, concentrated on calming herself down enough to say more. And he stayed there, quiet and gentle and just distant enough that she didn't feel him. He stayed there until she managed to calm down, to even out her senses and not feel everything so intensely at once, assured her it was okay and he shouldn't have kissed her to start, knowing her like he did.
